2012 World Tour

Dec 10, 2012

Arrived in DIA early, hung out in red carpet lounge nibbling wine and cheese. I spilled some red wine on my relatively new brown leather shoes (darn), but was able to wash and scrub it out in the restroom (great!). Boarded plane to Houston and had a nice smooth flight.

Arrived in Houston, and with only an hour layover, we quickly made our way to the Qatar gate. At the gate we still had to get boarding passes, as these we unavailable at DIA. When we got there to check in, the guy helping us clearly had an issue, he kept talking to others in Arabic with worried tones. When asked, he said there was no problem, it would just take a moment. It quickly became clear they did not have seats for us even though we had called and confirmed a week prior and they had told us seats assignments at that time. After about 15 min of this while all other passengers are boarding, a second guy shows up, tells us they are overbooked and gives us an ultimatum: Take coach seats for the 14 hr flight, or wait 24 hrs in Houston for the next flight. We have non refundable hotel in Hoa Hin the night we get in, and we have been excited about business class travel for months, so neither option is good.

We say both options are unacceptable, but that doesn't get us anywhere. We demand to see a manager, but none are around.

September 27, 2009

Intro to blogging here. Pom and I recently finished a "weekend of excess" joined by my brother Tiger and father Geg.  We feasted daily, played golf, smoked cigars, feasted more, and drank many, many bottles of wine. Excellent!
